update-10:30am **updated**

from davey:

"Saw Katie this morning. Her cousin Amy and I went in and spent a few minutes with her. The neat thing this morning is that she sat up on her own opened her eyes and looked at the both of us. The great thing is that her eyes looked much better. Both were on me, where as before one was a little "lazy". She is still not totally with it and struggles to put words together in thoughts. But we do believe that she knows when we are there and she knows who we are.

A lot of people have asked me if she is out of the coma. That's a hard question to answer. The best way to describe it is this. Picture Katie's conscience like a swimming pool. The bottom of the pool is the coma and the surface is full consciences. She's somewhere in between. Sometimes she is closer to the bottom and sometimes she is closer to the top.

I just received a call from J. Michael McCoy, a DJ from 98.3 WOW FM, called me and is going to have me on the radio today around 3."

when i hear about some of the things Katie is doing i am reminded of how i feel when i am sleep walking or talking. It is real, but there is a haze over me that i can't seem to break through. Oftentimes sleep walkers cannot be waken unless they are touched.

Praise God for her progress.

Thank you for taking the time to do these awesome updates on Katie and your family, Davey. Katie's listing our house in IA, and she told me in an e-mail on Thursday that she was trying to figure out why she was having the migraines. I thought they were just a post-pregnancy complication. Then Kyle called to let us know what was happening on Saturday. (Kyle, thanks for giving us the blogspot information!) We're praying for God's continued healing for Katie and blessings for your family!

An email was forwarded to about Katie. My prayers are with you all. My son suffered an aneurysm at age 17. He was unable to speak and lost use of his right side, had to learn to walk, read, write and speak again. That was 6 years ago and he is going to be finishing up his last year of college this year, is working at a summer camp for high risk inner city kids, plays men's league hockey, and beats his brothers on the basketball court. It has been a struggle, but don't lose hope. The brain is an amazing thing, and with God on your side, what may seem hopeless to the medical world, is not necessarily so. You must read the book, "My stroke of Insight, A brain scientist's journey", by Jill Bolt Taylor. It will give you tremendous info on what Katie is going through, and also tremendous hope for healing. Also, visit the bafound.org website for lots of helpful information on aneurysms, and best of all, under support/recovery a support board which will give you a tremendous source of information and support. If you want to contact me, feel free. I'll do my best to answer questions.

Thanks for the updates...it's such a small world. I am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Indianola and through our e-mail system, Randy C. let us know about Katie and her situation. Randy asked for prayers and to keep the family in thought.

Then, through my prayer chain in New Virginia, our minister's niece had underwent surgery for an aneurysm. How strange...upon inquiry, I found out that Katie is the niece of my minister.

I appreciate the updates and it sure sounds like things are looking much better...

What a testimony Katie and you are! God is sooo good! God is using Katie to reach not only the health care professionals at Methodist, but millions of people across the WORLD!

You are so right that we should live in His Power and not in fear, no matter what the circumstances are.

Thank you for your faithfulness and for sharing. I look forward to continued installments of Katie's recovery.

We have been praying for Katie since we saw the first post on the Emmaus Alumni website last Friday. I just listened to your live interview on 98.3 WOW FM via the internet.... Our God is awesome and He is performing a miracle for us to see in Katie. To Him be the glory.

I put Katie on our church's prayer list on Sunday, so you can be sure that a lot of people here are praying for you all. I can't wait to hear what God will do next.

II Chronicles 14:11 which states, "Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; let not man prevail against You" was especially helpful as we walked through the journey of a brain tumor with our son. Hope this can be of some help to you now. It is great to know He is on our side.
