update from davey- tuesday AM

update on Katie's progress (from Davey)-
This morning Sue when in and Katie was once again on the move. Sue was trying to get her to lay down and Katie kept telling her "don't do that", and "stop it". Finally Sue said, "are you disgusted with me?", and Katie responded, "yes, disgusted!". So, the family is doing a good job irritating Katie back to health. No MRI yet as they can't get her to hold still for 45 min. The Dr's are waiting for a consult from the anasteologist (sp?) to see if they can fully sedate her for the procedure. There is still a little swelling on her head and so they are holding off on putting the skull piece back in. Shouldn't be long though. Dr's and nurses continue to be pleased with Katie's progress and some therapists (i.e. speech, rehab) are scheduled to be stopping by in the coming days to begin assessing her situation and putting together a plan.

Way to help the family-
As Davey's family is slowly beginning to head back to their respective homes, there is a big need to help with the kids. Fortunately Katie's brother Kyle and his wife Karen have offered to move in with Davey and to help with the kids. Kyle is basically Katie's business partner and will be handling her real estate dealings, and Karen is a stay home mom and will be able to help with the kids especially with school coming up and Sawyer being so little.

So, here is how you can help.

Dawn Stallman (close friend of the Bloom family) is organizing meals for the Bloom's/Clarkson's for the immediate future. We would like to provide dinner for them every other day for as long as people are willing. Please coordinate through her and she will keep the family up to date. If you are out of town and would like to help in this way, Dawn will help you find a restaurant that can deliver.

You are all on our hearts and in our prayers. We will continue to pray for Katie's complete recovery. Many others that don't even know Katie are praying for her. God will greatly use your family to impact Him.

Ps. 94:19
Lord when doubt fills my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer.

I, too, am utterly amazed by the outpouring of support and by God's love and power in the life of one individual. I don't know why it shocks me as I know our God is an awesome God, but it is easy to forget just how awesome and how powerful! Davey--I am praying for your continued strength! Your messages of faith and hope are a powerful reminder in a time when it is easy to fret and be sad. I am also praying for continued surrounding love and support for the girls and Sawyer. And, for Katie, I am praying that God will wrap his arms around her and heal her body and mind.

Sending love and prayers to your entire family, Shelley Vincent (fellow Emmaus student with Katie and Davey).

Every time I visit this blog, I am more encouraged and in awe of the awesome God we serve. He is truly working a miracle in Katie's precious life. It is absolutely overwhelming to see how many people around the world are praying for her. What a testimony of God's healing power you and Katie will have one day! (Actually, you already do!) It is amazing to watch God carry you through this trial. Davey, your faith is an example to ALL of us. We love Katie and all of you so much and we will continue to lift you up to our Father. Love, Bruce and Stacie Stanley

Just to let you know there is one more that has been praying since Friday...
I am currently reading The Sacred Romance(again) and this seems appropriate;
When the king of Aram went to kill Elisha, the servant said to Elisha "O, my lord, what should we do?
Elisha answered, "don't be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. Then Elisha prayed for the servant's eyes to be opened and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Make room for 10,000 angels in the room with Katie!!

Davey - What a beautiful family you have! I learned about you and Katie from a friend in Dubuque. You and your family, and specifically Katie, are being lifted up in prayer by many here in Dubuque. We continue to pray for a full recovery for Katie, and for God to be glorified through His miraculous work. Be encouraged brother, the God of the whole universe is holding Katie tightly and loving her more than any of us can know. I am confident He is hearing and will respond to your (our) prayers.
In Him,
Brian

Our dear friends, Eric and Sara Sanger passed on your prayer request to us last week. Even though we have never met you and Katie personally, we are your friends in Christ and want you to know that we are praying for you. Our hearts go out to your family and we are inspired by your faith and by the trust you have in God to completely heal Katie. As humans, it can sometimes be challenging to give complete trust to God because we want to be in control ourselves, yet, if we let God do His job, He gives us peace and understanding. We are rejoicing that you have found that peace through trusting our Lord.

Marci has told us of you and we wanted to tell you that all of you are in our prayers and we have sent out several prayer request to our other friends all over the states. We are completely amazed by what God has done so far for Katie and how he continues to love and heal her. Faith is truely wonderful. Please know that we are thinking and praying all the time for all of you!!

SO I must not be very good at this because this is my third attempt at leaving a message!! I am praying for God to show his power in this situation and to heal Katie. I also am retired now and could sit with her whenever the family might need me too.
