update from davey--

meredith here:

i just got a call from davey & local channel 5 news is coming down to the hospital to interview him for tonight's 10pm newscast. they might feature it on their website, if not does anyone know how to record the footage & get it posted to youtube?

could someone in the local area get this done for us? if so, comment below that you are willing. i am still working on locating a digital video camera to tape it and then upload...

please pray that Katie's testimony & Davey's interview remains pure & protected--not edited or misrepresented. Glory to God!

I heard about your situation from my sister - a nurse at Methodist - who shares a common friend with your family. I am writing to you because (I can't even believe this),we have shared the same experience. I had surgery on May 15 for multiple disected arteries and a pseudoaneurysm, which caused leaking of blood into my brain. I am 36 years old, from Monroe, Iowa. I thought what happened to me was a rare condition and believe that my outcome is also a true miracle. Here is my story and what I have learned. I had a headache for about 3 days and was very tired. On the third day I went to the emergency room at Mercy where a CT scan was performed. It was negative and I was sent home, although the headache continued and I had slight vision changes in my left eye. The next morning I suffered a small stroke (right hand went numb and speech became slurred for a few minutes). I went to my local physician who ordered an MRI of my arteries. The results showed a subarachnoid hemorrhage. I was rushed back to mercy hospital. An angiogram was performed and the results were horrifying - my arteries are crooked in various ways also, my left internal carotid artery is completely disected, my right vertebral artery was dissected, and I had a weakening in my right internal carotid. I was told by the neurosurgeon that he could not do anything, so I was rushed to Iowa City. My surgery was performed by Dr. Chalupka, a well known neurosurgeon. He performed the surgery through the catheter that was inserted in my femoral artery for the angiogram. A true miracle! He is only one of a few doctors in the US that is able to perform surgery for this issue through a femoral artery catheter. If you need further info about his group I would be happy to share. The cause of my dissections are unknown and know one can say for certain how long I have had them. However, I did have a violent spell of vomiting and they believe that is what the trigger was. I had 3 stents placed in my right side. The left side remains occluded, but the right side grew new vessels to compensate (sort of like when your heart can grow new vessels). 8 days after surgery, I was readmitted to Mercy for a "small" heart attack. Dr. Chalupka said I had a vasospasm in my heart, which was a result of the leaking blood in my head. My recovery felt slow and it took time. I am now at 3 months post surgery and am starting to feel like my old self. My advice to you is to take one day at a time and allow your body the rest it needs. My prayers go out to you and your family and know that you can come out of this fully recovered. I am getting closer each day.

I was so amazed by your story and also inspired. I am Jody's sister and had to tell her about Katie. It's awesome to see what God can do when even the doctor's are sure that nothing can be done. Katie's story is powerful! I pray for your family as well as Katie and Dave's children-how hard and stressful it must be on everyone. The support system you have is incredible. I hope that I continue to hear of Katie's recovery and pray each day that she will regain her strength and mind.

I will be taping the show via my DVR. I know my husband has transferred shows before, I'm just not sure if he has done it from the DVR or our old TiVo machine. I hope it will work!

Praying daily for Katie and the whole family!
